Windows 7 putty disconnect

Let me explain what is the meaning of the above parameters. Sets a timeout interval in seconds after which if no data has been received from the client, sshd will send a message through the encrypted channel to request a response from the client. The default is 0, indicating that these messages will not be sent to the client. You can also try some software that tests the uptime of an Internet connection. See: Internet Connectivity Monitor.

If it does, you can isolate the problem away from PuTTY. TCP Keepalives help if you have a firewall which drops your connection after an idle period; but if the network between you and the server suffers from breaks in connectivity, keepalives can actually make things worse. If a session is idle, and connectivity is temporarily lost between the endpoints, but the connectivity is restored before either side tries to send anything, then there will be no problem — neither endpoint will notice that anything was wrong.

However, if one side does send something during the break, it will repeatedly try to re-send, and eventually give up and abandon the connection. TCP Keepalives can make this sort of problem worse, because they increase the probability that PuTTY will attempt to send data during a break in connectivity.

Other types of periodic network activity can cause this behaviour; in particular, SSH-2 re-keys can have this effect. Therefore, you might find that TCP Keepalives help connection loss, or you might find they make it worse, depending on what kind of network problems you have between you and the server. It worked for me, i dont know what you morons are complaining about? Active Oldest Votes. Try using the ssh connection termination escape sequence. Display a list of escape characters. Currently this allows the addition of port forwardings using the -L, -R and -D options see above.

Basic help is available, using the -h option. Improve this answer. George M George M Pretty cool! Just to give it an easy to remember name like exitall. Now I'm asking for way too much :. I suppose bash sees it as a string and not an escape sequence coming directly from the keyboard. Thanks all. Gilles gotcha, makes sense. And there's no guarantee that PuTTY also does this. And even bash will ignore it in the middle of a command line. Try it out yourself: type a single letter and try Ctrl-D. It safely exits. It is a shell shortcut that is the same as typing 'exit' and pressing enter.

Simply close PuTTY. Gilles 'SO- stop being evil' Gilles 'SO- stop being evil' k gold badges silver badges bronze badges. If you don't mind doing a little scripting you can do this.
